Security forces kill two TRF terrorists in Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Jan 4: Security forces have gunned down two hardcore terrorists in an encounter in Kulgam area of south Kashmir where also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition since yesterday, police said today.
Inspector General (IG) of Police Vijay Kumar said that two terrorists affiliated with TRF, an off shot of Lashker-e Toiba (LeT) outfit, were killed in an encounter at okey area of Kulgam distric today.
However, the identities of the terrorists are yet to be ascertained, he said and added that they were involved in several terrorism related incidents.
Pertinently, last week three JeM terrorists, including a foreign terrorist, were killed in Kulgam district .
Earlier, a joint team of police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Okey area of the district.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces triggering off an encounter.
Reports from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district said that security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in Nowgam village yesterday.
The recovery was made during cordon and search operation conducted by police, army and CRPF, the report said, adding the recovery included one AK 56 rifle, three Chinese grenades and a pouch.
A case has been registered and further investigation has been taken up, the reports said.
