Zone Babey conducts U-19 Boys Tournament Trials; 33 students participate

UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: The Zonal Physical Education Office (ZPEO), Babey, on Thursday successfully organised the Under-19 Boys Zonal Tournament Trials at the Sports Complex, Sundla, to select players for the upcoming district-level competitions.

The event was held under the patronage of Director, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta, with the guidance of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Udhampur, Tarsem Singh, and under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Babey, Pushpinder Kour.

Students from PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School Khoon and Government Higher Secondary School Garh Samna Banj participated in the selection trials. A total of 33 students took part, recording 69 event-wise participations during the programme.

The trials were conducted to identify talented sportspersons who will represent Zone Babey at the forthcoming district-level tournaments. Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs) and Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs) from the zone were present and ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

Addressing the participants, ZPEO Pushpinder Kour encouraged students to actively participate in sports to remain physically fit, mentally strong, disciplined and confident. She also cautioned students against drug abuse, describing it as a serious social menace, and urged them to stay away from substance abuse, work hard and bring laurels to the nation.

As part of the programme, all participants took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to promoting a healthy, drug-free and responsible lifestyle through sports.
