UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: The Literary Club of Government College for Women, Udhampur successfully organised a quiz competition on the theme “Celebrating our National Heroes and the Essence of Freedom” as a part of Independence Day Celebrations, 2026 and in accordance with the directives issued by the Chief Secretary, UT of J&K and order issued by Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Dept. In continuation to the series of activities and events designed to instill the essence and importance of National Independence in a celebratory manner, this Quiz Competition was organised by Dr. Geetanjli Rajput, Convener, Literary Club under the patronage of Principal (Prof.) Dr. Nalini Pathania.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students with six teams comprising three members each competing in an intellectually stimulating contest. The quiz featured multiple rounds, including objective questions designed to test the participants’ knowledge and awareness of India’s rich history and the sacrifices of its freedom fighters.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest (Prof.) Dr. Nalini Pathania, worthy Principal of the college, who encouraged and motivated the students and appreciated the initiative taken by the institution to promote historical awareness and patriotic values among students. She urged the students to value their roots and to make collective efforts to take our Nation to great heights.
The quiz competition was successfully co-ordinated by Prof. Simran Khajuria and Prof. Safina Chowdhary.
The competition was judged by an esteemed panel of judges comprising Dr. Monika Gupta, Dr. Rewa Lakhnotra and Prof. Kusha Sharma. Their expert evaluation ensured fairness and added credibility to the event.
All participating teams demonstrated remarkable knowledge, confidence, and team spirit throughout the competition. After a close contest, Team A comprising Prachi Gupta, Aiman Lone and Naseem Akhter emerged as the winner. Team D comprising Apoorva, Nritika and Sunali Devi emerged as first runner up and Tanvi Jasrotia, Shipali Sharma and Taniya Sharma of Team E were the second runner ups.
The event concluded on a successful note, with appreciation extended to the organisers, judges, and participants for making the quiz competition a meaningful and engaging experience. Mr. Kuldeep Singh covered the event.
