DODA, Jul 1: The Low Paid Government Employees Federation (LPGEF), Doda, on Wednesday held a condolence meeting to pay rich tributes to senior trade union leader Mohd Iqbal Wani, who passed away on June 29, 2026.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of District President Niaz Ahmed Rahi. Members of the Federation observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul while expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion, senior leaders Ghulam Hassan Pampori and Shakeel Ahmed Dev remembered Mohd Iqbal Wani, son of Nazir Ahmed and a resident of Bun Astan, Kishtwar, as a dedicated, honest and committed employee who served as a Work Supervisor in the Jal Shakti (Hydraulic) Department, Kishtwar. They recalled that Wani had earlier served as the District President of the Work Supervisors Association and was presently serving as the District President of the Low Paid Government Employees Federation, Kishtwar.
Ghulam Hassan Pampori described the late leader as a sincere and intelligent officer who always worked for the welfare of employees and earned the respect of his colleagues through his integrity and dedication.
Er. Nazir Ahmed Sheikh termed his demise a great loss to society and said that Mohd Iqbal Wani was a strong symbol of communal harmony who always promoted Hindu-Muslim brotherhood and worked selflessly for the betterment of employees.
Shakeel Ahmed Dev prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and prayed that the Almighty grants courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
Among those present at the condolence meeting were Vishwa Mittar, Nehru Lal, Surishta Devi, Mohd Saleem Wani, Ghulam Hassan Bhagwan, Molvi Abdul Hameed, Ghulam Rasool (PDD), Dr. Matloob Ahmed Tak, Gopal Singh, Mahinder Singh, Anayatullah Shan, Anayatullah Mir, Nayeem Ahanger, Nizam-ud-Din Butt, besides a large number of employees and pensioners, who joined in paying homage to the departed leader.
