Kaith pays tribute to Jaggo Ram on 69th Nirwan Diwas

JAMMU, Aug 6: Distinguished social and BJP activist, R.L.Kaith, paid a heartfelt tribute to the fearless leader, Jaggo Ram, on his 69th Nirwan Diwas. Jaggo Ram’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of poor and hapless agricultural labourers has left an indelible mark on Jammu and Kashmir’s history.

His courageous struggle began when the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir State came into force, sparking widespread resentment among Scheduled Castes due to the lack of reservation provisions. The landmark protest on July 26, 1956, marked a turning point, with Jaggo Ram’s fast unto death drawing massive support and forcing the intervention of then Prime Minister Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad.

Despite his ultimate sacrifice, Jaggo Ram’s martyrdom sparked a movement, inspiring future generations to fight for social justice and equality. The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, and subsequent amendments, stand reflection to his enduring legacy.

As we remember Jaggo Ram’s tireless efforts, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing the aspirations of the marginalized and downtrodden. His life serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring us to strive for a more just and equitable society, added Kaith.
