Home for Aged & Infirm conducts programme to identify destitute senior citizens living in isolation

JAMMU, Aug 6: With the objective of identifying and extending care to destitute Senior Citizens aged 60 years and above who are living in isolation and have no one to look after them, the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu today organized an Awareness Programme at Kattal Battal, Nagrota.

The programme was organized with the active cooperation and support of Dr. B. B. Sharma, Ex-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), who is also associated with the Home, along with the Kattal Battal Youth Union. Prominent members of the Youth Union present on the occasion included Jatinder Singh, President; Pankaj Sharma, Cashier; Girdhari Lal; and Surinder, Kumar, Member, who extended wholehearted support in mobilizing the local community and ensuring the successful conduct of the programme.

During the programme, Dr. B. B. Sharma and the representatives of the Home appealed to the local residents to identify and refer destitute, neglected, abandoned, or isolated Senior Citizens who are physically and mentally fit and are not addict to the Home so that they may be taken care of and  provided free shelter, care, protection, medical assistance, and rehabilitation, subject to the rules of the Home which were explained to the gatherings assembled on the occasion..

As a symbolic humanitarian gesture, 65 ration kits were also distributed among poor needy families to encourage community participation and strengthen the spirit of social responsibility.

The Home was represented by Er. Pankaj Gupta, President; Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary; Vijay Gupta, Joint Secretary; Managing Committee Members Vijay Dhawan, Satpal Sharma, S. Rajinder Singh, Sudha Gupta; and Raghav Gupta, Official.

The Home reaffirmed its commitment to continue organizing such outreach programmes to ensure that no elderly person is left uncared for and that every senior citizen lives with dignity, care, security, and respect.
