KANGRA, May 21: Social-Political Activist R.L Kath accompanied a large number of devotees including Subedar Baldev Chand (Retd), Havildar Des Raj (Retd) and Tilak Raj Bassa, visited the Jwalaji temple in Kangra.
While offering prayers in the shrine of Godess Jwalamukhi, they wished for well-being of all.
R.L.Kaith said it is here that Godess Sati’s tongue fell which can now be seen in the form of flame. Sati immolated herself after her grandfather Lord Brahma insulted her husband Lord Shiva.
Kaith further said the temple is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Raja Bhumi Chand Katoch of Kangra, a great devotee of the Godess Durga, dreamt of the sacred place and the king sent people to find the whereabouts of the site. The site was traced and the Raja built a temple at this location.
