JAMMU, Sep 30: The Outreach Section, IIT Jammu, hosted students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dansal, as part of its ongoing school outreach and experiential learning initiatives, with the guidance and support of Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu; Prof. Meenakshi Rajeev, Dean, Outreach & Skill Development; and Dr. Sameer Kumar Sarma Pachalla, Associate Dean, Outreach Section.
The students visited the Structural Lab of Civil Engineering, briefed on the laboratory facilities, structural testing, and practical applications of civil engineering. They subsequently visited the Central Workshop, where they observed various tools, machinery, and fabrication processes, gaining an understanding of how engineering components and prototypes are designed and crafted.
The students also visited the PHN Lab, IIT Jammu, where they were introduced to the development and working mechanisms of robots and other technology-based systems, including applications of IoT, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML). Through demonstrations and interactions, the students gained practical insights into emerging technologies and their applications.
The visit provided students with meaningful hands-on exposure to engineering and emerging technologies, fostering scientific curiosity and encouraging greater interest in STEM learning and innovation.
