GDC Ramnagar organises National Anthem Singing Competition

RAMNAGAR, Aug 3: Under the patronage of the Principal Prof. Daljeet Singh Manhas, Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar organised a National Anthem Singing Competition on the eve of the 80th Independence Day to instil a sense of patriotism, national unity, and respect for the nation among students.

The event witnessed active participation from students, who showcased their musical talent and deep sense of patriotism through soulful renditions of the National Anthem.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, Convener, Debate and Seminar Committee and NSS Programme Officer (PO).

In her address, she warmly welcomed the Principal, faculty members, judges, and participating students. She highlighted the importance of the National Anthem in instilling a sense of discipline, unity, and national pride among the youth and encouraged students to actively participate in such value-based activities. Following the welcome address, the organising committee introduced the programme, emphasizing the significance of the National Anthem and its role in strengthening the spirit of national integration. Students from different semesters enthusiastically participated in the competition and delivered inspiring performances with confidence, discipline, and patriotic fervour.

The performances were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Prof. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Jeevan Kumar and Prof. Tanmeet Kour who assessed the participants on the basis of rhythm, coordination, clarity of pronunciation, and overall presentation.

In the competition, Mansi Sharma of semester 3rd secured the first position , Prinka Sharma of semester 3rdstood second position  and Diksha Thakur  of semester 3rdgot third position. The winners were felicitated with certificates of merit and appreciation awards by the Principal and faculty members. All participants were also encouraged and applauded for their enthusiastic involvement.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of GDC Ramnagar Prof. Daljeet Singh Manhas lauded the efforts of the participants and organisers, stating that such activities help instil patriotism, cultural values, and a sense of national pride among the youth. He further emphasized that the National Anthem is not merely a song but a symbol of unity, discipline, and collective identity, and students must always uphold its dignity with utmost respect. He also appreciated the college fraternity for successfully organizing the event and encouraged students to actively participate in such co-curricular activities for their overall personality development.

Faculty members also encouraged students to continue participating in co-curricular activities that contribute to their holistic development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, judges, participants, and students for their active cooperation and making the event a grand success. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, reflecting the college’s commitment to nurturing responsible and patriotic citizens through meaningful educational and cultural initiatives.
