UDHAMPUR, Oct 31: The Institution Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Dean Students Welfare, organised a Mehendi Design Competition at Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur, to promote creativity, skill development and entrepreneurship among students.

The initiative aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their artistic abilities while exploring opportunities to convert their creative skills into income-generating ventures.

As part of the activity, selected participants were permitted to set up Mehendi design stalls on the college campus, offering paid services to faculty members and fellow students. The college provided basic facilities, including tables and chairs, while the students arranged their own materials and retained the earnings generated through their services.

The initiative provided students with practical exposure to entrepreneurial activities, including managing stalls, interacting with customers and generating income through their skills.

Appreciating the initiative, the Principal said that such activities reflect the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, self-reliance and an entrepreneurial mindset among students. She emphasised the importance of recognising the economic potential of individual talents and transforming hobbies into sustainable earning opportunities.

The activity highlighted the importance of experiential learning and encouraged students to become confident, skilled and self-reliant individuals by combining creativity with practical entrepreneurial experience.
