JAMMU, May 21: A delegation of the Bhagat Amarnath Charitable Trust called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, in Jammu and discussed several issues of public importance, including the ongoing anti-drug campaign in the Union Territory.
The delegation comprised Surinder Bhagat, Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Romesh Kumar, Advocate Rajan Bhagat, and Gurmeet Dutta.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held regarding the recently launched 100-day anti-drug campaign initiated by the LG administration across Jammu and Kashmir. The members of the delegation expressed concern over the increasing menace of drug abuse in society and stressed the importance of creating greater public awareness and encouraging community participation to safeguard the youth from addiction.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that collective participation from all sections of society is essential to achieve the goal of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. He underlined the importance of coordinated efforts involving government agencies, social organizations, educational institutions, and citizens to effectively combat the growing drug problem.
The delegation also discussed issues related to Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath, who sacrificed his life over the issue of reservation in Jammu and Kashmir. Remembering his contribution and sacrifice, the delegation expressed hope for positive initiatives and meaningful action concerning the related matters.
The members of the delegation thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for granting them time and for holding detailed discussions on issues concerning public welfare and social development.
