POONCH, Jun 9: The Indian Army celebrated World Environment Day at Town Company, Surankote by organising an Awareness Lecture, a Drawing Competition and a Tree Plantation Drive. The event aimed to promote environmental consciousness among students and encourage active participation in the conservation of nature.
During the awareness lecture, Army personnel highlighted the importance of environmental protection, sustainable living practices and the collective responsibility of safeguarding natural resources for future generations. The session focused on creating awareness about the need to preserve the environment and adopt eco-friendly habits in daily life.
As part of the celebrations, students enthusiastically participated in the drawing competition, creatively expressing their ideas and commitment towards environmental preservation through artwork. The tree plantation drive further reinforced the message of ecological responsibility, with saplings planted to symbolise growth, sustainability and a greener future.
A total of 38 students actively participated in the event, displaying keen interest and enthusiasm. The programme served as an effective platform to sensitise the younger generation about environmental issues and inspire them to become responsible custodians of nature.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment towards community welfare and environmental conservation through such meaningful outreach initiatives, motivating the youth to contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable nation.
