JAMMU, Jun 9: Saach Pass in District Chamba of Himachal Pradesh is situated at an altitude of 14,500 feet and is considered to be the toughest pass in the Peer Panjal range of the lesser Himalayas.

KCPS students escorted by Academic Director Dr R.D Thakur and IAYP Award Leaders Ajay Thappa, Ayushi Khajuria, Neelakshi Sadhotra and Rahul Thakur reached the village Baira Garh in Saach region on the evening of June 4.
The adventure began with an acclimatisation trek to temple Devi Koti on June 5. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the students’ enthusiasm remained entirely undampened. Undeterred, they eagerly proceeded with the planned excursion to the historic Devi Kothi Temple, followed by a short, scenic trek through the surrounding forest. The students spent the rest of the day interacting with young students of the Primary School in Tepa village.
The morning of June 6 marked the expedition’s ascent to Saach Pass by road, reaching the destination at midday following a necessary acclimatization pause at Satrundi at an elevation of 11,500 feet. This rugged terrain served as a living laboratory. Under the tutelage of biology teacher Rahul Thakur, students conducted field observations of the localized flora and fauna. They spent an hour at the high-altitude pass, enduring the characteristically cold and bracing winds to appreciate panoramic views of the spectacular mountain massifs that form gateway to the remote tribal Pangi Valley.
After the completion of their adventure trek, they returned to Jammu on June 7.
Raju Chowdhary, Chairman of KC Public School and AK Mishra, Principal of KCPS congratulated the students for completing a challenging Himalayan trek in their pursuit of the ideals of holistic education.
