SRINAGAR, Jun 28: Former Member of Parliament Dr. Karan Singh, accompanied by his daughter Dr. Jyotsna Singh, today visited the revered shrine of Charar-i-Sharief, where he offered a chadar and donation and prayed for peace, harmony and the well-being of the people.
The shrine’s caretakers also prayed for his health and recalled the long association of his family with the revered shrine across generations.
Dr. Karan Singh expressed happiness at seeing the reconstructed shrine, which was rebuilt after it was destroyed in the 1995 fire, while the sacred grave remained intact.
Speaking to media persons, Dr. Karan Singh said that the recent visit of Dr. Farooq Abdullah to the Kheer Bhawani shrine and his own visit to Charar-i-Sharief reflect Kashmir’s centuries-old tradition of interfaith harmony and mutual respect.
He hoped that this enduring legacy of communal harmony would continue to inspire future generations and further strengthen the bonds of peace, understanding and brotherhood among all communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
