JAMMU, May 30: A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu was held today under the chairmanship of Er. Pankaj Gupta, President.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary; Vijay Gupta, Joint Secretary; and Managing Committee Members Dr. Surinder Kumar, Dr. Ritesh Gupta, Sr. Rattan Deep Singh Anand, Satpal Sharma, Sr. Rajinder Singh, Vijay Dhawan and Sudha Gupta.
Before the commencement of the meeting, the President, Secretary and Managing Committee Members visited all the shops owned by the institution and interacted with the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers were requested to either authorize their respective banks for automatic transfer of monthly rent to the institution’s account or ensure that the rent is deposited in advance on or before the 5th day of every month.
They were also requested to remove the advertising hoardings installed in the galleries of the Home at the earliest and place the same within the area of their respective shops so as to maintain the dignity and aesthetics of the institution premises.
The Committee confirmed the minutes of the previous meeting and approved the Income & Expenditure Account for the month of April 2026. The members expressed gratitude to all donors for their continued support and specially acknowledged the generous contribution of Smt. Nirja Munshi, who donated Rs 1,00,000 during the month under review.
The House reviewed inmate-related matters and paid homage to late Mohan Lal, an inmate of the Home, who passed away during the month. Members observed two minutes’ silence and conveyed their condolences.
The Committee noted with satisfaction that a number of educational institutions, social organizations and distinguished individuals visited the Home during April 2026 and highly appreciated the services, facilities and care being provided to the elderly residents. The visitors recorded their appreciation for the cleanliness, discipline and compassionate environment being maintained in the institution.
Approval was accorded for the enrollment of two new Life Members, namely Pankaj Sharma and Manjeet Singh, and the House welcomed their association with the institution.
A detailed review was undertaken regarding the proposed installation of lifts in both residential blocks of the Home. Various technical and financial aspects were discussed and alternative proposals examined to ensure the most suitable and efficient facility for the benefit of the inmates.
The issue of pending rental dues from shopkeepers occupying the institution’s commercial premises was also discussed. The Committee resolved to take appropriate measures for timely realization of rent and to streamline the process through bank authorization arrangements to avoid future delays.
The House appreciated the continued humanitarian outreach activities of the institution. The Committee also reviewed and appreciated the relief distribution programmes conducted at Maralian and Village Sobka, Bhalwal, where essential relief material was distributed among underprivileged families.
During these visits, awareness was also created regarding the facilities available at the Home and local residents were requested to identify and refer deserving elderly persons in need of care and shelter.
Members interacted with the inmates and staff members and reviewed the facilities and services being provided in the Home. The inmates expressed satisfaction over the care, accommodation, food, medical facilities and the overall environment available in the institution.
Addressing the meeting, Er. Pankaj Gupta, President, reiterated the commitment of the Management to provide a safe, caring and dignified environment for senior citizens and emphasized the need for greater community participation in the welfare of the elderly.
The meeting concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, who thanked the Chair and all members for their valuable participation, suggestions and continued support towards the mission of the institution.
