SRINAGAR, Aug 24: The Buchwara Mohallah Committee, an amalgam of 10 Masjids of the Buchwara area, held its third important meeting yesterday at Buchwara Masjid to strengthen its collective efforts towards making the area greener, cleaner and more environmentally responsible, while also addressing important community issues.

The movement, which has been receiving growing support from residents and community representatives, is being led by *Green Ambassador Dr. Touseef Bhat, who has been actively working to promote environmental consciousness, cleanliness and community participation in Kashmir*.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Atta Mohammad, Shah Javaid, Sajad Bhat, Bashir Ahmed Manzoor Ahmed Sajad Bhat along with several other reputed representatives and prominent members of the area.

During the meeting, participants discussed a comprehensive roadmap for taking the initiative forward and ensuring that the collective vision of a clean, green and responsible Buchwara translates into concrete action at the grassroots level.

Dr. Touseef Bhat, while addressing the gathering, emphasised that environmental protection cannot be achieved by government institutions alone and requires active participation from local communities, religious institutions, youth and civil society.

“Our Masjids can become powerful centres of environmental awareness and community service. If 10 Masjids come together with one vision, we can create a model for a cleaner, greener and more responsible community.”

The participants also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness around residential areas and Masjids, protecting existing green spaces, increasing plantation, managing waste responsibly and creating greater awareness among children and youth.

The Buchwara Mohallah Committee resolved to work collectively and take the movement to its logical conclusion, with a sustained focus on environmental sustainability, cleanliness, social responsibility and resolution of local community issues.

The initiative aims to eventually establish Buchwara as a model green and clean community, demonstrating how collective community participation can bring meaningful and lasting change.

“Greener Buchwara, Cleaner Buchwara, Stronger Buchwara” remains the collective vision of the movement.
