Tata Power launches ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ Campaign in Punjab, targets One Lakh homes

JAMMU /CHANDIGARH, Jul 2: Tata Power Solaroof, a part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), on Thursday launched its flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in Punjab along with the introduction of Tata Power Battery Storage solutions to promote clean, reliable and affordable energy across the state.

The initiative combines rooftop solar systems, battery storage solutions, community outreach programmes and flexible financing options to make renewable energy more accessible while enabling consumers to generate, store and utilise clean power efficiently.

Speaking at the launch, Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, said Punjab is emerging as a key market for distributed renewable energy due to rising electricity demand, growing environmental awareness and increasing preference for sustainable living.

He said the company plans to expand rooftop solar installations to over one lakh homes in Punjab over the next three years, contributing more than 500 MWp of cumulative rooftop solar capacity. According to him, the initiative will strengthen the state’s renewable energy goals while enabling households to actively participate in India’s clean energy transition.

As part of the campaign, Tata Power also launched ‘Mera Gaon, Mera Solar’, a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar adoption in villages and semi-urban areas. The programme seeks to create awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy and encourage large-scale community participation.

To make solar installations more affordable, the company has introduced a Special Zero Down-payment Financing Scheme in partnership with a leading financial institution, offering flexible payment options exclusively for customers in Punjab.

The campaign complements the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, under which eligible households can avail subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 kW, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW, and up to Rs 78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above.

Highlighting the company’s achievements, Tata Power said it has already installed 169 MWp of rooftop solar capacity across Punjab through 5,661 installations, helping reduce over two lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to planting more than 84 lakh trees every year.

In Chandigarh, the company has completed over 250 rooftop solar installations. Tata Power also operates 59 EV charging points in Punjab and 11 charging points in Chandigarh, including public and semi-public charging stations, to support clean mobility.

Interested consumers can obtain more information about rooftop solar installations under the Ghar Ghar Solar campaign through Tata Power Solaroof’s customer helpline.
