UDHAMPUR, Aug 30: Talla Jewellers, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is implementing the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir” campaign under Project MAKE (Make All Kids Educated) to create awareness among school students about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse. The initiative is being carried out by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) across Jammu and Udhampur districts, with the support of the District Administration and education authorities.
As part of the campaign, LFO-BHF organised drug awareness programmes at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Majalta, and Government High School, Gandala, in District Udhampur. Mr. Vivek Parihar, Director & CEO, LFO-BHF, interacted with the students and sensitised them about the physical, mental, educational and social consequences of drug abuse. He urged students to stay away from harmful substances, make responsible choices and focus on education, healthy habits and positive personal development.
The awareness sessions collectively reached 440 students, including 280 students at Majalta and 160 students at Gandala.
As part of the educational support component of Project MAKE, 15 school bags were distributed to underprivileged students in each school, benefiting 30 deserving students in total. The initiative aims to combine drug awareness with meaningful educational support for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Speaking on the occasion, Vivek Parihar said that awareness among young students is one of the most effective ways to prevent substance abuse. He emphasised the importance of encouraging children to pursue education, sports and other constructive activities while understanding the long-term consequences of drug abuse.
