JAMMU, Aug 30: The BJP OBC Morcha, Jammu, organised a programme to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 137th episode of Mann Ki Baat at Ram Mandir, Ward No. 28, Jammu West. Party workers, office bearers and members of the local community participated in the programme.
The programme was organised under the arrangements made by BJP Protocol In-charge Vikrant Gupta and Shakti Kendra Pramukh Ravinder Birpuria.
Those present included Braham Jyot Satti, State President, BJP OBC Morcha; Sunny Sangotra, State General Secretary, OBC Morcha; Ram Pal, State Treasurer, OBC Morcha; Arun Sethi, District President, OBC Morcha; Rakesh Pandey, District Vice President, OBC Morcha; Rajesh Verma; Sanjay Verma, District General Secretary, OBC Morcha; Parveen Badyal, District Secretary, OBC Morcha; and Booth Presidents Vimal Gupta, Kusmakar Bhagat, Shashi Pal Singh and Naresh Bhagat, representing Booth Nos. 90, 91, 105 and 106, besides other BJP workers and prominent members of the local community.
During the 137th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted several important national issues and inspiring initiatives, with particular emphasis on the ‘Drug-Free Youth for Developed India’ campaign. He stressed that drug addiction harms not only individuals but also families and society as a whole, calling for collective efforts to build a drug-free youth and a drug-free India.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the spirit of patriotism witnessed across the country during August, referring to National Handloom Day, the anniversary of the Quit India Movement and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. He said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign further strengthens the feeling of patriotism and noted that the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram has made the year particularly significant.
On women empowerment, PM Modi highlighted the PM SVANidhi scheme, noting that around 46 per cent of its beneficiaries are women, with nearly 35 lakh women connected with the scheme and taking their small businesses forward.
He also praised the spirit of cleanliness and public participation witnessed during the Shri Amarnath Yatra, appreciating the sanitation workers who continued their service along difficult routes. More than 400 metric tonnes of waste was collected and processed during this year’s pilgrimage, he said.
The Prime Minister further shared the inspiring success story of Vaishalu Puroji from Phek district of Nagaland, who took up flower cultivation after receiving scientific training from the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra. She planted thousands of gladiolus plants on one-quarter of an acre and successfully grew more than 5,000 flowers in her first attempt, demonstrating the potential of scientific farming and rural entrepreneurship.
PM Modi also spoke about Mission ShaktiSAT, under which 12,000 female students from 108 countries are being provided opportunities to learn satellite technology and pursue innovation. He emphasised that the aspirations of daughters are now reaching from Earth into space.
Speaking on the occasion, Braham Jyot Satti appreciated the Prime Minister’s message and said that Mann Ki Baat has emerged as an effective platform for connecting people with inspiring stories, national initiatives and the larger vision of a developed India.
Satti said PM Modi’s call for a drug-free youth demands collective action from every section of society. He stressed that young people are the foundation of the nation’s future and urged society to spread awareness about drug abuse and support those battling addiction.
He also welcomed the Prime Minister’s emphasis on women empowerment, saying schemes such as PM SVANidhi are creating opportunities for women to strengthen their livelihoods and contribute to the economy.
Appreciating the sanitation workers and volunteers associated with the Amarnath Yatra, Satti said their dedication reflects the spirit of Seva and public participation. He added that the cleanliness drive during the pilgrimage sends a strong message about collective responsibility towards protecting the environment.
On Mission ShaktiSAT, Satti said providing girls with exposure to satellite technology and innovation would encourage greater participation of women in science and technology. He said India’s daughters are demonstrating their capabilities across fields and will play an important role in building a technologically advanced and developed India.
Satti also appealed to people to embrace the spirit of Vocal for Local and give preference to Indian-made products. He said purchasing local products supports artisans, small entrepreneurs, traders and manufacturers while strengthening the economy and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
After listening to Mann Ki Baat, Satti held an organisational meeting with Shakti Kendra and Booth Presidents. Discussions focused on strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level, improving coordination among workers and preparing for upcoming party programmes.
He urged Shakti Kendra and Booth-level functionaries to maintain regular public contact, remain committed to public service and ensure effective participation of workers and citizens in upcoming organisational activities.
