JAMMU, Jun 1: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) has expressed serious concern over the increasing involvement of drug peddlers in operating commercial vehicles across Jammu and Kashmir and has demanded strict action against such offenders.
In a statement issued here today, SRS President Rajiv Mahajan said that drug trafficking has emerged as a major threat to society, particularly to the younger generation. He alleged that many individuals involved in the illegal drug trade are using commercial vehicles to transport and distribute narcotics, thereby endangering public safety and facilitating criminal activities.
Mahajan urged the Jammu and Kashmir Administration, Transport Department, and law enforcement agencies to identify commercial vehicle drivers found involved in drug trafficking and immediately suspend or cancel their driving licences. He said that strict punitive measures would serve as a strong deterrent and help dismantle the drug network operating in the region.
He appreciated the ongoing anti-drug campaign launched by the administration and called for further strengthening of enforcement mechanisms to ensure that no drug peddler is allowed to misuse commercial vehicles for illegal activities.
The SRS President also appealed to transport unions, vehicle owners, and members of the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
Reiterating the organization’s commitment to a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, Mahajan said that collective efforts from government agencies, civil society, and citizens are essential to protect the youth and secure the future of the region.
