KATRA, May 21: The School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has added another feather to its cap as architect and designer Ar. Sourabh Gupta earned international appreciation for his exquisite hair couture creation designed for Isha Ambani during the recently held Met Gala 2026.
The couture piece, inspired by the traditional Indian mogragajra, became one of the most talked-about artistic elements of Isha Ambani’s globally admired appearance at the prestigious fashion event.
The handcrafted jasmine-inspired hair sculpture was created using paper, copper, brass, and Indian pigment paint, and reportedly took more than 150 hours to complete.
Congratulating Ar. Sourabh Gupta on this remarkable achievement, Ar. Abhiney Gupta, HoD- School of Architecture along with other faculty lauded his creative excellence and stated that such accomplishments reflect the immense talent and innovative spirit nurtured within the School of Architecture & Landscape Design.
He remarked that Ar. Sourabh Gupta’s work has successfully showcased Indian artistic traditions on an international platform and has become a source of inspiration for students and young designers.
Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. Pragati Kumar congratulated Ar. Sourabh Gupta and described the achievement as “a moment of immense pride” for the university fraternity.
He emphasized that such global recognition highlights the creative capabilities emerging from SMVDU and reinforces the university’s commitment towards excellence in architecture, design, innovation, and interdisciplinary artistic practices.
He further added that achievements of this nature motivate students to think beyond conventional boundaries and contribute meaningfully to the world of art and design.
