JAMMU, Jul 31: Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust will celebrate “Sanskrit Month” from August 1 to August 28, 2026, with a series of educational, cultural and social awareness programmes aimed at promoting the Sanskrit language and India’s rich cultural heritage.
The announcement was made by the Trust’s President and noted astrologer Mahant Rohit Shastri during a press conference held at the Jammu Press Club on Friday.
Addressing the media, Mahant Rohit Shastri said the month-long campaign has been planned to popularise Sanskrit while promoting Indian culture, ethical values, social harmony and environmental awareness. He said the Trust will organise a variety of programmes, including Sanskrit seminars, Shloka recitation sessions, poets’ meets, cybercrime awareness camps, tree plantation drives, anti-drug awareness campaigns and public awareness programmes against social evils such as the dowry system, female foeticide and caste-based discrimination.
“Sanskrit is not merely a language; it is the soul of Indian culture and philosophy. Through this campaign, we aim to take Sanskrit to every section of society while strengthening moral and cultural values,” Mahant Rohit Shastri said.
He further informed that educational institutions, social organisations and youth groups from across the region would actively participate in the campaign. A detailed calendar of events, including dates, timings and venues, will be released before the commencement of the month-long programme.
The Trust expressed hope that the initiative would encourage greater public interest in Sanskrit and inspire younger generations to appreciate India’s linguistic and cultural heritage while contributing to social awareness and nation-building.
Among those present at the press conference were senior Trust members R. K. Chhibber, Amit Jamwal, Prof. Sharad Chandra Sharma, Kulbhushan Jamwal, Uttam Chand Sharma, Lucky Sharma, Rajesh Gandotra, Ajay Sharma, and several other dignitaries.
