JAMMU, Aug 12: Eminent contemporary sculptor from Jammu and Kashmir, Ganesh Kumar Sharma, has been conferred the prestigious International Gold Award by the L & L International Art Group, Brazil, in recognition of his artistic contribution and excellence in contemporary sculpture.
The award was announced during an international online virtual art exhibition organised by the Brazil-based art group. Sharma’s sculpture was selected for the coveted International Gold Award by an international jury from among entries received from artists across the globe.
The award-winning sculpture, titled “Embrace Within,” has been created in beautiful green marble and reflects Sharma’s distinctive approach to contemporary sculptural art. The selection of the work for the international honour has brought recognition to the rich artistic talent of Jammu and Kashmir on the global art platform.
Lelia Ortigão, President of the L & L International Art Group and a senior internationally recognised contemporary artist and curator, congratulated Ganesh Kumar Sharma and conveyed her heartfelt greetings to him on receiving the prestigious international honour.
Ganesh Kumar Sharma is among the prominent sculptors from Jammu and Kashmir and has been regularly participating in national and international art exhibitions and events across the world. Through his sustained artistic practice and participation in major art platforms, he has contributed to bringing the artistic identity of Jammu and Kashmir to wider national and international audiences.
Sharma has received numerous State, National and International awards and honours from various reputed art organisations for his contribution to the field of sculpture. His major achievements include the Jammu and Kashmir State Award with Gold Medal in 2006 and the National Award conferred by the Government of India in 1998.
The latest International Gold Award is another significant milestone in Sharma’s artistic journey and further acknowledges his standing as a contemporary sculptor whose work has earned appreciation beyond national boundaries.
