JAMMU, Aug 28: On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandgi addressed a congregation at Ranjri, Jammu, and delivered a spiritual discourse focusing on the impermanence of the material world, the importance of protecting nature and the eternal nature of the soul.
Speaking on the changing environmental conditions, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj said that human beings have exploited nature excessively, resulting in serious ecological consequences. He referred to the melting of glaciers and changing weather patterns, cautioning that the continued exploitation of the Earth’s natural resources could disturb the ecological balance and contribute to natural disasters.
He said glaciers play a vital role in sustaining rivers, which in turn support agriculture and human civilisation. Excessive extraction of minerals and other elements from the Earth, he observed, creates an imbalance that can ultimately have serious consequences for humanity. He stressed that nature must be respected and protected, warning that unchecked interference with the natural environment could threaten human existence itself.
The Sadguru also spoke about the spiritual concept of ‘Amar Lok’ (Eternal Abode), describing the material world as perishable and full of challenges, while presenting Amar Lok as the spiritual realm associated with freedom from sorrow and suffering. Referring to the concept of ‘Begumpura’, he explained its spiritual significance as a place free from grief and worldly troubles.
During his discourse, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj also spoke about Sant Kabir Sahib and his teachings on equality and the rejection of caste distinctions. He emphasised that a true ascetic transcends caste identities and that spiritual wisdom should be accessible to people irrespective of their social background.
He further urged devotees not to be discouraged by criticism or opposition, observing that detractors can sometimes contribute to one’s spiritual growth by testing patience, faith and determination. Referring to the teachings associated with Sant Kabir and the story of Dhanna Jat, he highlighted the importance of remaining steadfast on the path of truth.
Concluding his discourse, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj extended Raksha Bandhan greetings to all countrymen and called for greater spiritual awareness, social harmony and responsible coexistence with nature.
