JAMMU, Jul 29: A spiritually uplifting programme was organised on the occasion of Guru Purnima at the Sant Ashram in Ranzadi, where Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj delivered an enlightening discourse on the eternal significance of the Guru and the transient nature of the material world. Devotees from different parts of the region gathered at the ashram to seek blessings and listen to the spiritual message.
Addressing the congregation, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj said that all sacred scriptures glorify meditation upon the Guru, describing the Sadguru as the highest guide on the path to self-realisation.
“The Vedas and the teachings of saints proclaim that meditation on the Guru is the highest form of spiritual practice. Even the spiritual merit earned through a lifetime of devotion can be attained through sincere contemplation of the Sadguru. The Guru alone leads the seeker from illusion to truth and from ignorance to eternal knowledge,” he said.
Explaining the philosophy of saints, he said the material world is temporary and dream-like. Quoting the dialogue between Lord Rama and Sage Vashishtha from Yoga Vashishtha, he said the visible world appears real only because of human perception, just as dreams appear real until one awakens.
“The saints have repeatedly taught that worldly attachments, pleasures and sorrows are temporary manifestations of Maya. A person who understands this truth gradually rises above attachment and moves towards spiritual awakening,” he said.
Referring to the teachings of Sant Kabir, Maharaj explained that even the concepts of heaven, hell and worldly identity are part of the illusion created by Maya. The ultimate objective of human life, he said, is to realise the eternal truth that exists beyond all illusions.
Drawing from the Bhagavad Gita, he recalled Lord Krishna’s message to Arjuna that the soul is immortal and never perishes. While the physical body returns to the five elements, the soul continues its eternal journey.
“The soul is eternal and indestructible. Birth and death belong only to the physical body. Understanding this truth frees a person from fear, grief and attachment,” he said.
Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj further stated that saints such as Kabir Sahib came into the world to guide humanity towards Amar Lok, the eternal abode beyond the influence of time and illusion, which is the true home of the soul.
The Guru Purnima celebrations concluded with devotional prayers, the offering of respects to the Guru, and the distribution of prasad among the devotees, who expressed gratitude for the inspiring spiritual discourse.
