JAMMU, Jul 19: Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandgi, while addressing a spiritual congregation at Akhnoor in Jammu, urged devotees to focus on the welfare of the soul and overcome the influence of the mind, which he described as the root cause of human suffering and distraction.
Delivering an enlightening discourse, Sadguru Ji said the world today is caught in the grip of forces that keep people engrossed in material pursuits while neglecting spiritual growth. He observed that people spend their lives earning a livelihood but rarely make efforts for the upliftment of the soul.
Explaining the significance of self-introspection, he said the mind is the greatest obstacle in the spiritual journey. According to him, the senses are governed by the mind, which possesses immense power and controls human actions. He noted that the mind, described in spiritual teachings as the manifestation of Kaal (Time or Death), remains within every individual, yet few are able to recognize its influence.
Sadguru Ji highlighted the growing influence of materialism and corruption in society, citing everyday examples to illustrate how changing priorities have affected human values. He stressed that while scientific and technological advancements continue to transform the world, true progress can only be achieved through inner awakening.
Using symbolic references, he explained that qualities such as lust, anger, greed, pride and attachment act like invisible forces that cloud human judgment and prevent individuals from realizing their true spiritual nature. He said these negative tendencies dominate the mind unless controlled through spiritual discipline.
Referring to rapid technological developments, including self-driving vehicles and future innovations, Sadguru Ji remarked that despite humanity’s remarkable achievements, people continue to overlook the inner world. He said the soul remains trapped by worldly attachments and illusions, preventing it from attaining lasting peace.
Concluding his discourse, Sadguru Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj emphasized that only by following the guidance of a true Sadguru and remembering the divine Name can an individual transcend the bondage of the mind and illusion, ultimately progressing towards Amarlok, the eternal spiritual abode.
