JAMMU, Jul 13: Senior BJP leader and former Minister Bali Bhagat on Monday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he has repeatedly chosen to question India’s democratic institutions and achievements on foreign soil instead of standing with the nation as its global stature continues to rise under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent three-nation visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, Bhagat said the tour significantly strengthened India’s diplomatic, strategic and economic standing. He said the visit witnessed progress in defence cooperation, maritime security, clean energy, trade, critical minerals and uranium cooperation with Australia, reflecting growing international confidence in India’s leadership.
“Whenever Prime Minister Modi travels abroad, he returns with stronger partnerships, strategic agreements and greater respect for India. Rahul Gandhi, however, repeatedly chooses foreign platforms to criticise his own country. Such actions only provide ammunition to those who seek to undermine India’s interests and are an insult to the aspirations of 140 crore Indians,” Bhagat said.
The former Minister alleged that the Congress leader has made it a “political habit” to portray India negatively before international audiences instead of acknowledging the country’s economic progress, diplomatic achievements and rising global influence.
Bhagat further claimed that while the UPA government missed several strategic opportunities, the Modi government has transformed India’s foreign policy into one focused on national interest, strategic partnerships, investment and global leadership. He said world leaders today recognise India’s growing role in global affairs, but the Congress continues to question every achievement for political reasons.
“It is unfortunate that instead of celebrating India’s success, Rahul Gandhi continues to spread negativity. A responsible Opposition should strengthen the nation’s image rather than weaken it on foreign soil,” he asserted.
Calling upon the Congress to introspect, Bhagat urged Rahul Gandhi to put national interest above politics. He said India’s achievements belong to every citizen and should unite the country rather than become subjects of political attacks. He expressed confidence that the people would continue to support leadership committed to strengthening India’s global prestige, economic growth and strategic influence.
