Pre-event under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan conducted at GDC Khour

KHOUR, Aug 3: A pre-event under the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan was organised at Government Degree College (GDC) Khour by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Regional Office Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.

The programme commenced with the rendition of the National Song, followed by a patriotic song presented by the artists accompanying Rajesh Sharma, representative of the Central Bureau of Communication. The proceedings of the event were efficiently conducted by NCC cadets ArunPratap Singh and SiyaJamwal.

As part of the awareness programme, five students delivered thought-provoking speeches highlighting the importance of leading a drug-free life and the role of youth in combating substance abuse. Around fifteen students enthusiastically participated in a poster-making competition, creatively conveying strong messages against drug addiction through their artwork.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. (Dr.) T. K. Sharma appreciated the initiative and urged students to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy, disciplined and responsible lifestyle. He emphasised that awareness, determination and active participation of young people are essential for building a drug-free nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Sharma highlighted the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and encouraged students to become ambassadors of the campaign by spreading the message of a drug-free India in their families and communities. On the occasion, he presented a memento to the Principal, while the Principal felicitated him with a planter as a token of appreciation.

A pledge against drug abuse was administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to leading a healthy and addiction-free life. Prizes were distributed among all the participants in recognition of their enthusiastic involvement in the various activities.

The members of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee played a significant role in the successful organisation of the programme. The event witnessed the active participation of committee members, faculty members and a large number of students. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
