JAMMU, Aug 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rohiin Chandan has strongly welcomed the Government of India’s decision to introduce key amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. He described the move as a highly commendable and visionary step under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi, aimed at enforcing stricter controls and decisively curbing the flow of illegal and unaccounted foreign funding into the country.
In a detailed press note issued today, Chandan underlined that the FCRA, which has been in force since 1976, has assumed even greater significance in today’s complex and rapidly evolving geopolitical environment. He stressed the urgent need to thoroughly investigate, monitor, and track the precise sources of all foreign funds entering India. “It is imperative that we completely unmask the forces that are funding activities directed against our nation,” he stated firmly. “These may include foreign powers and external elements that continuously conspire to weaken India’s unity, sovereignty, and progress.
Chandan emphasized that transparency and accountability in the receipt and utilization of foreign contributions are essential for safeguarding India’s internal security, democratic institutions, and developmental priorities. He noted that successive reforms under the Modi Sarkar have already significantly tightened the regulatory framework, and the proposed amendments will further strengthen the legal architecture to prevent misuse of foreign funds for anti-national activities, conversion agendas, or attempts to influence domestic politics through external means.
Highlighting the broader legislative agenda of the Monsoon Session, Chandan stated that it is a highly commendable initiative by the Modi-led government that, along with the FCRA amendments, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam should also be introduced and passed. This major step, he said, highlights the core priority of the BJP-led Indian government to empower women and ensure their greater representation in the highest decision-making bodies of the country. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, once enacted, will reserve one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women, marking a historic milestone in India’s journey towards gender justice and inclusive democracy.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi, the government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to both national security and social justice,” he observed. “While the FCRA amendments will fortify our defenses against external interference, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will amplify the voice of Indian women in Parliament and State Assemblies. These twin initiatives reflect the dual pillars of a strong and progressive India—security and empowerment.”
He further noted that the Modi government’s track record of decisive action—from surgical strikes and the abrogation of Article 370 to landmark social welfare schemes and women’s empowerment programs—has repeatedly shown that national interest and the welfare of ordinary citizens remain paramount. The proposed FCRA reforms, he added, are not directed against genuine philanthropic or developmental organizations that work transparently for the betterment of society but against those who seek to exploit the system for ulterior motives that undermine India’s sovereignty and social harmony.
