JAMMU, Jul 31: Jammu & Kashmir unit chief Manish Sahni has extended strong support to the Opposition MPs’ ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) protest staged within the Parliament complex. He termed it a valid, peaceful, and highly effective medium of democratic expression.
In an official press statement issued from the state central office, Manish Sahni stated that the street play performed by the Opposition is a powerful symbolic effort to demand government accountability over allegations of theft and financial irregularities regarding Ram Temple donations.
Sahni highlighted that street plays played a historic role in awakening public consciousness and social awareness during India’s freedom movement. Even today, they remain an exceptional tool to convey the people’s voice to those in power.
Manish Sahni emphasized that asking sharp questions of the government is the Opposition’s constitutional right in a democracy, and providing reasoned answers is the moral and constitutional duty of the ruling party. When sensitive issues involving public faith and national interest arise, the government should engage in transparent dialogue rather than evading accountability.
Sahni demanded that every single penny collected from the public in the name of religious faith must be fully accounted for, and a fair and independent investigation must be conducted into the matter.
