RAMBAN, Aug 20: Intensifying enforcement measures in accordance with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, and Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Arun Gupta, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Ramban, today conducted a special joint enforcement drive across the district to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The enforcement drive was conducted in coordination with the District Police, keeping security concerns in view, under the supervision of ARTO Ramban, Varun Bhasin. A special checking operation was carried out at Maitra, Ramban, with particular focus on offences included overcharging, overloading, operating without a valid permit, use of curtains on vehicle windows, and operating without a valid fitness certificate.
During the drive, a total of 137 vehicles were inspected, of which 36 vehicles were e-challaned for various violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. The violations included overcharging, overloading, operating without a valid permit, use of curtains in vehicles, and operating without a valid fitness certificate.
The expected penalty amount from the e-challans is Rs 40,500. Additionally, two driving licences (DLs) have been recommended for suspension due to serious violations. In addition, 02 vehicles were seized for serious violations.
The Motor Vehicles Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety, transparency in public transport services and strict enforcement of traffic regulations. Vehicle owners and operators were advised to comply with all provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and keep their documents valid to avoid penal action.
The Department further informed that such joint enforcement drives will continue across the district to strengthen security, enhance road safety, ensure passenger convenience and promote disciplined traffic management.
