JAMMU, Jun 11: The Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) has strongly condemned the reported crackdown by Pakistani authorities on peaceful protesters and political activists in Rawalakot, Kotli and other areas of Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), alleging violations of fundamental human rights and democratic freedoms.

In a statement, the organization expressed concern over reports of killings, arrests, intimidation, restrictions on communication and the suppression of peaceful demonstrations. The JMF said such actions represent a serious violation of human rights and democratic principles.

JMF Chairman Shuja Zafar criticized what he described as the continued repression of people in PoJK and said the recent incidents had exposed the nature of Pakistan’s governance in the region. He maintained that the people of Jammu & Kashmir have the right to express their political views, assemble peacefully and seek justice without fear of violence or censorship.

Expressing condolences to the families of those who reportedly lost their lives during the protests, Zafar said the Jammu Muslim Front stands in solidarity with those demanding justice, democracy and fundamental rights.

He urged the Prime Minister of India and the Government of India to take diplomatic, political and humanitarian initiatives to highlight the situation in PoJK at international forums. He also called upon the United Nations and international human rights organizations to take note of the alleged violations and ensure accountability.

Zafar further stated that force and intimidation cannot suppress the aspirations of people seeking freedom, justice and dignity. “History has repeatedly shown that repression can never extinguish the desire for freedom and human dignity,” he said.

Reaffirming support for the people of PoJK, Zafar said the Jammu Muslim Front would continue to raise its voice against oppression and injustice and appealed to the international community not to remain silent on the issue.
