JAMMU, Sep 30: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) President Romesh Chander Gupta has appealed to members of the Mahajan community, social organisations and citizens of Jammu to participate in large numbers in the 160th birth anniversary celebrations of Sher-e-Duggar Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Ji on October 2, 2026.
According to the press release, the programme will be organised by JCMS at Hans Raj Mahajan Park, Gurudwara Sunder Singh Road, Jammu, at 9 a.m. Gupta said Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Ji was not merely a leader of one community but a social reformer who worked for the upliftment of weaker and downtrodden sections and promoted education and social welfare irrespective of caste, colour or creed.
Gupta said Lala Hans Raj Mahajan holds a special place in the social history of Jammu and dedicated his life to service, social reform and the welfare of humanity. He added that his ideals continue to inspire people to work towards a united and progressive society.
The JCMS President appealed to Mahajan Biradari members from across Jammu and Kashmir, as well as people from other communities, to join the programme and pay tribute to the social reformer. He said the celebrations would include a Vedic Havan, garlanding ceremony, floral tributes by prominent citizens and dignitaries, and a Mahajan Milan.
Gupta further said the occasion should serve as an opportunity to strengthen unity and social harmony and to renew the commitment to the ideals of selfless service practised by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Ji throughout his life.
He urged members of the Mahajan community to circulate the invitation among their families, local Biradari groups and social organisations to ensure maximum participation and make the programme memorable.
