GGM Science College conducts multiple activities to celebrate Independence Day Week

JAMMU, Aug 10: As part of the week-long activities being organized to celebrate Independence Day, the NSS and the NCC Units of GGM Science College Jammu under the agies of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GGM Science College, Jammu conducted a series of programmes aimed at promoting patriotism, environmental responsibility, and civic awareness.

The activities were organized under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Shalini Sharma and Dr. Amit Bali and NCC ANO Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma with active participation of NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, and students of the college.

Addressing the participants at the outset, the Principal of GGM Science College Jammu, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, lauded the efforts of all the students.

He emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, civic responsibility, and instilling patriotic values among the youth. He encouraged students to actively engage in such meaningful activities that contribute towards nation-building and sustainable development.

A major highlight of the programme was the cleaning of the pond located within the college premises, undertaken jointly by NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.

The participants enthusiastically cleaned the pond and its surroundings, spreading the message of environmental conservation and cleanliness. The activity reflected the commitment of the students towards preserving natural resources and maintaining a clean and green campus environment.

Another important event during the celebrations was the screening of the patriotic film ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’. The film depicted the life, sacrifices, and revolutionary spirit of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, inspiring students to appreciate the immense contributions of freedom fighters in India’s struggle for independence. The screening served as a reminder of the values of courage, patriotism, and selfless service to the nation.

Faculty members and students also participated in the activities, making the events meaningful and successful. The week-long celebrations will continue with a variety of programmes designed to commemorate the spirit of Independence Day and foster a sense of national pride and social responsibility among the students.
