THANNAMANDI, Aug 3: Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi had the privilege of being among the 10,000 selected locations across India to participate in the nationwide Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan. The landmark initiative was addressed today by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi through virtual mode, connecting approximately 10,000 locations, 125 organizations, and more than 10 million individuals across the country.
This historic interaction also marked the launch of a 100-week long Sunday Program, under which all participating organizations will conduct cultural, sports, spiritual, mindfulness, and community engagement activities every Sunday over the next two years. The program aims to foster a drug-free, empowered, and progressive youth community contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Under the supervision and guidance of College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmed Azad, the local proceedings at GDC Thannamandi commenced with a devotional song performed by students, Arslaan and group. The event was graced by SDM Thannamani Shri Abid Hussain as the Chief Guest, who addressed the students and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in building a drug-free society. The pledge was administered by Prof. Supriya Gupta, reaffirming the commitment of students and faculty to the cause. My Bharat Volunteer also participated and inspired others to make India drug free.
The overall proceedings were conducted by Prof. Rizwana Kousar, while Dr. Gohar Iqbal, NSS Program Officer, and Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, NMBA Nodal Officer, coordinated the program along with the organizing committee.
