RAMNAGAR, Aug 7: As part of the ongoing Independence Day celebrations, the Department of History, Government Degree College Ramnagar organised a Lecture-cum-Documentary Screening on “India’s Freedom Struggle” under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Daljeet Singh Manhas.
The programme commenced with an enlightening lecture by Prof. Manmohan Singh, Head, Department of History, who traced the major phases of India’s freedom movement and highlighted the invaluable contributions of the countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to securing the nation’s independence. Emphasising the importance of preserving the legacy of the freedom struggle, he urged students to imbibe the values of patriotism, unity, courage, and selfless service that continue to inspire generations.
The lecture was followed by the screening of a documentary on India’s Freedom Struggle, which presented a vivid account of the key events, movements, and eminent personalities that played a pivotal role in the country’s journey to independence. The documentary enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of India’s rich historical heritage and the sacrifices made in the cause of freedom.
A large number of students attended the programme with enthusiasm and actively participated throughout the event, reflecting their keen interest in learning about the nation’s glorious past.
The programme was attended by faculty members, including Dr. Sunil Kumar, Prof. Anice Ahmed, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, and Prof. Tanmeet Kour, whose presence added to the significance of the event. The programme concluded with a renewed sense of patriotism and appreciation for the enduring values of India’s freedom movement among the participants.
