KISHTWAR, Aug 6: Government Degree College (GDC), Kishtwar organised an inter-team Quiz Competition on the theme “Freedom Struggle and National Heroes” as part of the ongoing activities commemorating the spirit of patriotism and the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.
The programme was organised under the convenership of Dr Tabassum Saleem and under the able guidance of Prof. L. K. Badyal, Principal, GDC Kishtwar.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from seven teams (A, B, C, D, E, F and G), with each team comprising four students.
The quiz covered various aspects of India’s freedom movement, the lives and contributions of national heroes, significant historical events, and constitutional values, providing participants with an engaging platform to test their knowledge and deepen their understanding of the nation’s rich historical legacy.
The competition was judged by Prof. Ajeet Kumar, Dr Yasir Ahmed, and Dr S. M. Usman, who appreciated the participants for their commendable preparation, confidence, and competitive spirit.
They also highlighted the importance of such academic activities in fostering patriotism, historical awareness, and a sense of national responsibility among students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. L. K. Badyal, Principal, GDC Kishtwar, lauded the efforts of the organisers and participants.
He emphasised that understanding the struggles and sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters inspires young minds to uphold the values of democracy, unity, and national integrity.
At the conclusion of the competition, Team D (Nidhi, Namrita Shivani Ashmit) emerged as the winner after an exciting and closely contested final round.
The winners and all participants were congratulated for their enthusiastic participation and impressive performance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the Principal, the judges, faculty members, and students for making the event a grand success.
