DYSS Poonch organises anti-doping awareness session

POONCH, May 17: As a part of the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, the Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Poonch organised a comprehensive Anti-Doping Awareness Session at Poonch  in Collaboration with Poonch Taekwondo club with the aim of educating young players about the harmful effects of drugs and banned substances in sports. The programme was conducted to spread awareness among the youth regarding fair play, healthy lifestyle, and the importance of maintaining discipline in sports.

A large number of Taekwondo players and sports enthusiasts participated enthusiastically in the awareness session. Dr. Sanjogita Soodan, Deputy Medical Superintendent, GMC Super Speciality Hospital Jammu and renowned Sports Medicine Expert, was the chief guest and resource person for the programme. She delivered an informative and motivational lecture on anti-doping regulations, ethical sporting values, and the serious health consequences of performance-enhancing drugs.

During her speech, Dr. Sanjogita Soodan highly appreciated the role of the Youth Services & Sports Department in promoting sports culture and guiding the youth towards positive activities. She stated that the YSS Department is doing remarkable work by organising sports events and awareness programmes under the mission of “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Sports.” She further said that such initiatives are helping in channelising the energy of young players in the right direction and creating awareness about the dangers of substance abuse among the youth.

She also motivated players to remain committed to hard work, dedication, discipline, and fair play, adding that true champions achieve success through determination and honest effort rather than shortcuts through drugs or banned substances.

The programme was organised under the supervision of Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch. Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach of YSS , coordinated the event and encouraged players to actively participate in sports activities and become ambassadors of a healthy and drug-free society. The session concluded with a strong message to the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt sports as a way of life for a brighter future.
