JAMMU, Aug 3: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Jammu on Monday organised the Inter-School District-Level Selection Trials and Competitions in the disciplines of Hockey (Under-19 Girls) and Kalarippayattu (Under-17 and Under-19 Girls) at KK Hakoo Stadium and M.A. Stadium, Jammu.
The selection trials witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 100 students representing various government and private schools across the district. The competitions were organised to identify talented players for higher-level tournaments while providing young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills and sporting excellence.
The event was conducted under the patronage of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta, under the guidance of Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, Inderjeet Singh, and under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma appreciated the dedicated efforts of the organising committee, conveners, technical officials and Physical Education staff for ensuring the smooth conduct of the competitions. He expressed confidence that such events would provide a strong platform for nurturing young sporting talent and strengthening the sporting culture in the district.
The competitions were officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Surinder Pal Singh, Harvider Singh, Satinder Singh, Koshal Sharma, Hardev Singh, Harvinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Anit Kour and Davinder Singh.

The competitions concluded successfully with the selected athletes expected to represent Jammu district in the forthcoming higher-level championships. Officials congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence in sports.
