JAMMU, July 23: Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple on Thursday led a protest rally in Jammu condemning the martyrdom of Police Head Constable Hamid Qureshi in Anantnag. The protest, held on Janipur High Court Road, included the burning of effigies representing Pakistan and its leadership as demonstrators raised slogans against cross-border terrorism.
Addressing the gathering, Dimple alleged that the attack was aimed at disturbing the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and creating divisions between communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged people not to allow such incidents to disrupt communal harmony or regional unity.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family of the slain police official, Dimple paid tribute to Head Constable Hamid Qureshi and described his sacrifice as a loss for the entire nation.
During his speech, Dimple called on the Central Government to take strong action against terrorism and cross-border militant infrastructure. He urged the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to intensify anti-terror operations and strengthen security measures. He also raised concerns over issues related to Pakistan, including the Indus Waters Treaty and alleged militant activities, while calling for tougher action against terrorism. These remarks reflect Dimple’s views and have not been independently verified.
Appealing for peace and unity, Dimple urged people from all communities—Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and others—to maintain communal harmony, brotherhood and support the security forces in their efforts to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those present at the protest were Nagender Choudhary, Happy Kumar, Shami, Sanjeev Kumar, Kala Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Babu Kumar and several other supporters of Mission Statehood.
