RAMNAGAR, Jul 31: The Department of History, Government Degree College Ramnagar today solemnly observed the Martyr’s Day of Shaheed Udham Singh by organizing a Symposium under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Daljeet Singh Manhas, Principal, GDC Ramnagar, and under the supervision of Prof. Manmohan Singh, Head, Department of History.
The symposium was organised on the theme:”Shaheed Udham Singh: Symbol of Patriotism, Justice and the Spirit of National Sacrifice.”
The programme commenced with a floral tribute to the great revolutionary, followed by an insightful introduction to his life and unparalleled contribution to India’s freedom struggle. The speakers highlighted how Shaheed Udham Singh’s unwavering determination and supreme sacrifice continue to inspire generations to uphold the ideals of patriotism, courage, justice, and national unity.
The symposium witnessed enthusiastic participation from students Abhimanyu Upadhyay, Sanjeet Singh, Manisha Thakur, Mansi Sharma, and Sneha, who eloquently presented their views on different aspects of Shaheed Udham Singh’s life, his resolve to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and the relevance of his ideals in contemporary India.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Daljeet Singh Manhas, Principal, appreciated the initiative of the Department of History for organising such meaningful academic activities that foster historical awareness, patriotism, and constitutional values among students. He urged the students to imbibe the spirit of selfless service, courage, and dedication exemplified by the great martyr.
Prof. Manmohan Singh, Head, Department of History, emphasized that Shaheed Udham Singh’s sacrifice was not merely an act of revenge but a powerful message against oppression and injustice. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the life of the martyr and contribute positively towards nation-building through knowledge, discipline, and ethical values.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the commitment of the Department of History to preserve and promote the rich legacy of India’s freedom fighters through academic and commemorative activities.
