JAMMU, Aug 29: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban convened a meeting of its District Vice Presidents to chalk out an intensified grassroots outreach programme and strengthen the party organisation across Jammu Urban.
The meeting was organised under the leadership of DCC Jammu Urban President and former J&K Minister Yogesh Sawhney and chaired by Raman Bhalla, Working President, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and former Minister. Senior Congress leader and former MLC Ved Mahajan also participated.
The meeting focused on strengthening the organisation at the booth, ward and block levels, besides increasing direct interaction with residents and highlighting issues concerning the common people. The District Vice Presidents were asked to begin groundwork in their respective areas and maintain regular contact with party workers and the public.
The leadership called for systematic door-to-door campaigns, “Chopal Pe Charcha” and issue-based grassroots mobilisation, with an emphasis on listening to public grievances and taking genuine concerns to the appropriate platforms.
Addressing the meeting, Raman Bhalla said that a strong Congress organisation can be built only through continuous engagement with people at the grassroots.
He asked the District Vice Presidents to take their responsibilities seriously and undertake intensive field visits to understand the problems faced by residents. “The present political circumstances demand a proactive and people-centric organisation that reaches every household and every section of society,” Bhalla said.
He stressed greater coordination between district, block and ward-level workers and said that “Chopal Pe Charcha” would provide an effective platform for open dialogue with citizens. He maintained that every genuine public concern should be documented and raised through the party organisation.
Yogesh Sawhney said the meeting was aimed at giving clear direction to the District Vice Presidents and putting the organisation into an active grassroots mode. He called upon office-bearers to regularly meet residents, strengthen communication with workers and take the Congress organisation directly into neighbourhoods and local communities.
Sawhney said the strength of the party lies in its workers and its ability to stand with people on issues affecting their daily lives. He added that “Chopal Pe Charcha” and other grassroots programmes would help create sustained channels for identifying and raising public grievances.
Among those present were Vice Presidents Prem Sharma, Sat Pal Sapolia, Atul Sharma, Raj Kumar Sodi, Baldev Singh Wazir, Kulbhushan Sharma, S. Rajinder Singh, Suresh Sharma, Suman Wazir, Vijay Khajuria, Block President Pardeep Bhalla and others.
