JAMMU, Aug 31: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban held a detailed organisational meeting of its newly appointed General Secretaries to strengthen the party’s grassroots network and enhance coordination between district, block and ward-level units.
The meeting was held under the leadership of DCC Jammu Urban President and former J&K Minister Yogesh Sawhney and chaired by Raman Bhalla, Working President, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC). Later, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra was felicitated and interacted with the newly appointed General Secretaries.
The newly inducted office-bearers expressed gratitude to Karra for their induction and assured the senior leadership of their commitment to strengthening the party organisation and working with dedication at the grassroots level.
Addressing the meeting, Raman Bhalla said the newly appointed General Secretaries have a major responsibility in making the Congress organisation stronger and more responsive. “Congress must reach every household and every voice must be heard at the grassroots,” he said, stressing that organisational strength requires continuous engagement with workers and the public at booth, block and ward levels.
Bhalla called upon the General Secretaries to regularly visit their respective areas, interact with workers and identify issues confronting the common people. He said the party would continue to raise concerns related to rising prices, unemployment, electricity rates, civic amenities, displacement and other issues affecting ordinary families.
He also stressed the need to intensify the proposed “Chopal Pe Charcha” campaign, which will provide a platform for direct interaction with citizens and discussion of pressing public issues. He urged the new office-bearers to undertake door-to-door outreach, public meetings and grassroots programmes to strengthen the party’s connect with people.
Yogesh Sawhney said the appointment of the new General Secretaries was an important step towards further strengthening DCC Jammu Urban. “The real strength of the Congress lies in its workers and its ability to remain connected with people at the grassroots,” he said.
