RAMBAN, Aug 19: Reinforcing its commitment to youth empowerment, skill development and community welfare, the Indian Army commenced a four-week Welding and Skill Development Course at Sangaldan for 20 local youth.
The programme began with an opening address highlighting the importance of vocational skills, discipline, self-reliance and constructive utilisation of individual potential. Participants were encouraged to make full use of the training to enhance their employability and pursue sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The course primarily focuses on welding skill development, including safety procedures, basic and advanced welding techniques and hands-on practical training. To ensure holistic development, additional sessions on computer and digital awareness, communication skills, career counselling, resume preparation, interview techniques, personality development and leadership are also being conducted.
The participants will undergo training daily at Sangaldan. The course will culminate on 14 September 2026 with a final skill assessment, certificate distribution, feedback session and closing ceremony.
The initiative seeks to equip local youth with practical skills, confidence and employment awareness while promoting self-reliance and constructive engagement. Through such people-centric initiatives, the Indian Army continues to strengthen goodwill, community partnership and civil-military connect in the region.
