DODA, Jul 1: Indian Army organised the closing ceremony of a one-month Carpenter Course conducted at Village Gwari, Doda, under Operation Sadbhavana from 01 Jun to 30 Jun 2026. The training programme was aimed at promoting skill development, self-employment and livelihood opportunities for local youth, especially those from far-flung areas and families affected by terrorism. A total of 15 candidates participated in the course, which was conducted under the guidance of a qualified instructor. The participants were trained in basic carpentry skills, use of tools, workmanship, safety practices and practical furniture-making techniques. During the course, the trainees also manufactured three computer tables, which were presented to ITI College, Bangru, as a token of respect and gratitude for supporting their skill development. On completion, all beneficiaries were presented carpenter kits and certificates endorsed by ITI and Indian Army.
The trained youth expressed heartfelt gratitude to Indian Army for providing them an opportunity to acquire employment-oriented skills. Such initiatives will help local youth earn a dignified livelihood and encourage entrepreneurship in the region.
