SRINAGAR, Nov 3 (Agencies): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted searches at four premises in Srinagar city in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged terror financing, officials said.
An official said that the investigation pertains to allegations that Umar Adil Dar was functioning as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and was involved in activities linked to the outfit.
He said Dar, along with his associates, was earlier apprehended while allegedly carrying a substantial amount of cash and incriminating literature related to the banned organisation.
The official further said that Dar had previously remained in jail for around four years in connection with his alleged involvement in separatist and anti-India activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The searches, the official said, are aimed at tracing alleged proceeds of crime, identifying financial networks and funding channels, examining suspected links with handlers across the border and gathering further evidence in connection with the alleged terror financing activities. Further details are awaited as the searches are underway.
