JAMMU, Oct 26: Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Jammu and Kashmir State President Vivek Bali has criticised the alleged remarks made by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah concerning Pakistan and called for an immediate investigation into the matter.
In a statement issued here, Bali said that if the remarks are found to violate the law, the authorities should take appropriate legal action in accordance with the law.
Bali emphasised that public representatives must exercise responsibility while making statements on matters related to national security, sovereignty and the integrity of the country. He said that freedom of expression must be exercised with due regard for national interests and constitutional responsibilities.
“Farooq Abdullah must understand the responsibility that comes with being a senior political leader. If his statements are found to be contrary to the law or detrimental to national interests, the authorities must investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action without delay,” Bali said.
He also questioned what he described as a contradiction between receiving security provided by the Government of India and making statements that, in his view, raise concerns about national interests. Bali maintained that every public representative must demonstrate accountability and respect for the country.
The SBSP leader further said that political leaders should avoid controversial remarks that could create unnecessary tensions or affect public confidence. He stressed that national security, sovereignty and the dignity of the country should remain above political considerations.
“India’s sovereignty, unity and national interests must always come first. No political leader should consider themselves above the law. Accountability must be ensured wherever a violation of the law is established,” Bali added.
Bali reiterated his demand for an impartial investigation into the alleged remarks and urged the authorities to take appropriate action based on the findings.
