Gurmeet Baaghi raises concern over rising unemployment, urges Centre to create jobs for youth

JAMMU, Aug 26: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gurmeet Singh Baaghi has expressed serious concern over the rising unemployment and inflation in the country, urging the Central Government to take concrete steps to create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth.

Baaghi said the youth of the country need better education, skill training and employment opportunities to secure their future. He said while the graph of inflation continues to move upwards, employment opportunities are declining and unemployment has emerged as a deep national crisis.

He said that instead of making slogans and announcements, the government must focus on providing actual employment to the country’s youth. According to Baaghi, the government has a responsibility to address the unemployment crisis through effective policies and concrete action.

Referring to the promises made by the BJP when it came to power in 2014, Baaghi said the party had promised development that would generate millions of jobs for India’s growing population of young and educated people. He questioned how the country could achieve the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ when a large number of young people remain outside education, employment and training.

Citing a recent NITI Aayog report, Baaghi said that around 8.7 crore young Indians are neither studying, working nor receiving any training. He said the figure highlights the urgent need for comprehensive policies aimed at improving education, vocational training and employment opportunities.

“Our youth urgently need better education, training and employment. The government must stop making promises and start creating real opportunities for young people to learn, work and build a secure future,” Baaghi said.

Baaghi also expressed concern over reports of suicides linked to unemployment, saying that the issue has serious social and economic consequences. He urged the Central Government to formulate effective solutions to address unemployment and prevent young people from feeling hopeless and alienated.

He alleged that the government’s claims and announcements regarding employment generation have largely remained confined to paper, while the ground reality continues to be challenging for job-seeking youth.

“It is unfortunate that the youth are being neglected and that the country is facing an unemployment crisis. Mere announcements cannot solve the problem. There is a need for a clear roadmap and measurable action to generate employment,” he said.

Baaghi called upon the government to formulate a concrete and comprehensive policy on employment, focusing on skill development, vocational training, entrepreneurship and creation of sustainable jobs.

He said India’s young population can become the country’s greatest strength if provided with the right opportunities. The government, he added, must ensure that young people are equipped with the skills and employment opportunities necessary to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.

Baaghi concluded by urging the government to move beyond rhetoric and take immediate, result-oriented measures to tackle unemployment and ensure a secure and dignified future for the country’s youth.
