KATHUA, Aug 24: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kathua, today commenced the Inter-Zone District Level Competition for Under-19 Girls following the successful completion of the corresponding competition for boys.
The competition is being organised under the guidance of the Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, and under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua, Sunil Kumar.
Girl players from different zones of District Kathua are participating enthusiastically in various sporting disciplines, including Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Badminton. The event is providing young athletes an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent, develop competitive skills and promote teamwork and discipline.
In the day’s results, Zone Lakhanpur registered a victory in Kabaddi by a margin of 11 points. In Volleyball, Zone Malhar defeated Zone Hiranagar 2-0 sets. Zone Lakhanpur emerged victorious over Zone Hiranagar in Kho-Kho by seven points, while Zone Kathua won its Badminton encounter 2-0 games.
The participating teams displayed commendable skill, discipline, enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the matches. The competition will continue with the remaining fixtures, with the winning teams progressing further in the tournament.
The event aims to provide young girls with a structured platform to develop their sporting abilities and encourage greater participation in sports across the district.
