Solo, Group National Anthem Competitions organized by NCC Units of GGM Science College

JAMMU, Aug 3: As part of the ongoing Independence Day Celebration Programme (3rd–15th August 2026), the Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) NCC Units of GGM Science College, Jammu, organized Solo and Group National Anthem Competitions on Monday in accordance with the directives issued for the nationwide Independence Day celebrations.

The programme was organized under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The Senior Wing (SW) NCC Unit functioned under the supervision of 8 J&K Girls Battalion, NCC, Jammu, guided by Lt. Dr. Shafia Saleem, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), while the Senior Division (SD) NCC Unit functioned under the supervision of 2 J&K Battalion, NCC, Jammu, guided by Lt. Devinder Singh.

The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets of both the Senior Wing (SW) and Senior Division (SD), who showcased exceptional patriotism, confidence, coordination, and musical talent through their soulful renditions of the National Anthem. The event reflected the spirit of national unity, discipline, and devotion to the nation while reinforcing the core values of the National Cadet Corps.

The competitions were judged by Prof. Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Revika Arora, Department of Chemistry,  Ravinder Kumar, Director of Physical Education & Sports  who appreciated the remarkable performances and patriotic zeal displayed by the participating cadets.

In Solo National Anthem Competition, Cadet Swastika Sharma and Cadet Arya Sharma won first and second prize respectively.

In Group National Anthem Competition, Senior Division team comprising Cadet Varun Sharma, Cadet Harveet Singh, Cadet Arya Sharma, and Cadet Anand Saini got first prize while Senior Wing team comprising Cadet Swastika Sharma, Cadet AdityVerma, Cadet Priyanka Devi, and Cadet Niharika Sharma got second prize.

Addressing the participants, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta appreciated the dedicated efforts of both NCC units in successfully organizing the competitions. He congratulated the winners and encouraged all cadets to continue upholding the ideals of patriotism, discipline, unity, and selfless service to society.

Lt. Dr. ShafiaSaleem and Lt. Devinder Singh lauded the enthusiasm, dedication, and commendable performances of the cadets. They emphasized that such patriotic activities play a significant role in fostering national integration and nurturing responsible, disciplined, and socially conscious citizens.

The Independence Day Celebration Programme at GGM Science College will continue with a series of patriotic and nation-building activities until 15th August 2026, culminating in the Independence Day celebrations with the active participation of students, faculty members, and NCC cadets.
